Fortieth Parallel

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANext week we will be brewing a beer to celebrate the 2014 hop harvest. While lots of brewers have produced green hopped beers with green unkilned hops we have opted to celebrate the harvest by using freshly kilned new season whole flowers. This is mainly because without our own brewery we don’t have the logistical ability to do a brew the same day the hops are harvested. We can still guarantee the beer will be brimming full of fresh hop aroma and flavour.

This will be the first pale ale we have brewed ,clocking in at about 6.3%abv the beer will be packed full of fresh new season hop aroma and flavour from generous late and dry hopping with New Zealand Cascade and New Zealand Styrian Golding hops.
We have named the beer Forty South after the fortieth parallel which intersects both Kapiti , the hop gardens around Motueka and Marton in the Rangitikei where most of our malt comes from.
We are planning a launch event for early May. Cheers! KHM
