New Frontiers

This brewing lark is getting busy.  There doesn’t  seem to be a week that goes by without me brewing a batch of beer or running a North End event.  This Monday will see me in the brewery again brewing batch #3 of Amber.  This batch will push this year’s volume brewed over what we brewed all of last year! I will be making a few changes to Amber in my constant search for perfection with the biggest being a change of yeast to inject a little more fruity marmalade character into the beer. Then on Thursday we will be launching Forty South at Rogue and Vagabond. I’m really pleased with how our harvest ale has come out. This is certainly no green hopped new world IPA like the Hopstock beers , but rather something much more English in character. Earthy, tangy citrus tinged hop notes sit on a big chewy rich orangey gold malt base. Friday will see me flying to Auckland to launch our beers into the big smoke. It’s about 2 years since I was last in Auckland and their  embryonic  craft beer scene has rushed on since then.  I will be visiting a handful of the new craft beer bars up there with our new Auckland distributor Beertique , hopefully catching up with some brewer friends and then hosting a tap take over at Brothers Beer. This will include one of the last kegs of Le Chaleureux Rivage as well as Forty South and the core range.
Then on the 27th of May I will be flying to Christchurch where I will brew a North End collaboration with the Twisted Hop and I will host a beer and cheese tasting at The Woolston Hop.
We are also planning another event for Waikanae at Long Beach. We will keep the social media pages updated once we have a date. Oh and then there is that new Fieldway Pale Ale that we are adding to the core range but that is another story really … Cheers! KHM
