We have just released a stout to ease the late winter / early spring malaise colloquially known as ‘Shitsville’ in this part of the world. I have always been taken by the strong stouts Guinness produce for export to and sometimes brew in different export markets. Free of the tyranny of nitrogenated dispense Foreign Extra and Special Export strike a complex nuanced balance of rich caramel, assertive roast and firm bitterness.
So we have set out to brew our own export stout. Named for the iconic Pogues album Rum Sodomy and the Lash , The Lash combines Mild Malt, Chocolate Malt, Brown Malt, Dark Crystal Malt, and Roast Barley to strike the right balance of caramel and roast. Hop wise we have combined Pacific Jade , Willamette hops, and an isomerised hop extract to deliver a firm drying bitterness.   
I couldn’t be happier with the result , it’s highly drinkable but satisfying , a fireside warmer but also at home  on a sunny afternoon in the back garden. As of 16/09/21 it’s available in filled plastic flagons from here.
